　宇土市は幹線道路から見ると平野が続き、とてもわき水が出る土地には見えません。そこに名水百選でも知られる轟水源があることは不思議な感じもします。場所は宇土市中心部の宇土高校から丘陵地へ約２ｋｍのところにあり、水田の間を通ってくると突然水源が現れます。道は多少狭いのですが、標識なども整備されています。
